Know Before You Go

Please read through the information below so you know what to expect before your visit. If you have additional questions or concerns, please Contact Us.

General Information

Parking
Paid parking is managed by the city of Manitou Springs, and is enforced between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm (parking is free after 6:00 pm). Hiawatha Gardens is the closest parking lot to SunWater Spa. There are also on-street spaces along the south and west sides of our facility. Hourly rates vary depending on location. Please allow extra time to park when you arrive in Manitou. Visit the Manitou Springs website for more information.

What To Bring
If you are visiting for a soak, please bring a bathing suit, a towel, a water bottle, and a garment bag for your personal items. Robes or cover-ups are not required, but you may bring them for comfort while passing through our facility. We also have towels, robes, and reusable water bottles available for purchase from our retail area.

If you have multiple services scheduled, e.g. a soak and a spa treatment, a tote bag with a robe and towel will be provided for you.

Soaking Reservations
Please make a reservation prior to arrival. You can reserve a tub online from our Soak Page or by Contacting Us. We do not have a waitlist. Soaking reservations are 90 minutes, and include the tub(s) you reserved plus access to our traditional sauna and saline pool area on the first floor.

Spa Service Appointments
All spa services are by appointment only. You can make your appointment online from our Spa Page or by Contacting Us. If our schedule has any openings, we do allow same-day reservations with payment upon booking.

Gratuity
For all spa services, gratuity is included in the pricing listed on our website. Gratuity does not apply for soaking appointments.

Outside Noise
Our tubs are outdoors, and there may be noise from time to time coming from things such as festivals, landscaping, construction, live music, etc.  These noises are beyond our control.

If you are visiting us between May and September, Thursday evenings are filled with the sounds of live drumming coming from Memorial Park, across the street, from 6:00 pm – 9:30 pm. Check out Thursday Night Drum Circles on Facebook!

Drinks and Snacks
We have a variety of drinks and snacks available for purchase in our retail area.

Lost and Found
Please make every attempt to take your belongings with you. Any items that go unclaimed will be donated. Please Contact Us if you have lost an item at the spa.

Minors
14 is the minimum age allowed at SunWater Spa. Minors 14 and older must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is present throughout the soaking session. No more than 3 minors per parent or guardian.

When scheduling spa services for minors 14 and older, be aware that a parent or guardian must be present at the beginning and may be required to remain during the entire service.

Pregnancy
If you are pregnant, please call us at (719) 695.7007 for assistance with your reservation.  Please contact your doctor or physician with any concerns you may have before visiting SunWater Spa.

Showers
To fully experience the benefits of our mineral water, and by the requirement of the Department of Public Health and Environment, we ask that all guests use the provided showers to help maintain the integrity of our water and our hygienic conditions.

Alcohol and Drugs
We have a zero-tolerance policy regarding the use of alcohol, marijuana, cigarettes, and illegal drugs while at the spa. Heat and high altitude will exacerbate the effects of any form of psychoactive substance, and impaired judgment and loss of consciousness can occur. Because of this, we also strongly discourage the use of these substances before coming to SunWater.

Inappropriate Behavior
You will be visiting a place of wellness. If at any time there is inappropriate language or actions, your soak or service will be terminated immediately. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who engages in inappropriate behavior towards any staff member or guest. Please be aware of those around you, and join us in maintaining a tranquil environment.

Inclement Weather and Lightning
Please note that we close all outdoor tubs in the event of lightning. Our front desk staff will alert you of any approaching storms and current weather closures. If inclement weather is imminent, we will close the outdoor facilities, but indoor amenities may remain open. Occasionally the spa may close entirely at the discretion of the spa manager.

Pets
Pets are not permitted at the spa, with the exception of service animals.

Nudity
Wearing clothing or bathing suits is required at all times while at the spa. During your massage, it is optional to remain clothed. If you choose to be nude, you will need to be discreetly covered.

Waivers
All guests must sign a waiver before using the amenities at our facility. You may read the contents of our liability waiver and sign here.

Tubs and Pools

Tub Temperature
Our tubs range in temperature from 99º to 104º F.

Saline Pools
Our main pool, as well as the indoor hot and cold plunges on the garden level, are filled with water from a municipal source with added saline. We have chosen saline because of its buoyant properties, which helps our guests float more easily.

Minerals
The presence of sediment or a cloudy substance is the result of a buildup of naturally occurring minerals. The mineral-water used in our soaking tubs comes from 7 Minute Spring, and contains calcium, chloride, fluoride, iron, lithium, magnesium, potassium, silica, sodium, sulfate, and zinc. The sediment and mineral buildup are not harmful to you in any way. In fact, Manitou’s mineral water is celebrated for its rejuvenating effects on the body, mind, and spirit.

Cleaning and Sanitation
We routinely drain, clean, and sterilize our pools and tubs. By law, all pools and tubs shall be equipped with an automatic, or mechanical, means of adding disinfectant to the body of water (chlorine or bromine). We have bromine feeders plumbed into each of our outdoor tubs. The indoor saline pools and tubs use a system made by IntelliChlor to convert the salt into chlorine.
